This is a very sleek video! You scaffolded the presentation really well.
The only reason why CoinMarketCap came to existence was because of the altcoins-rush of Mid-2017. Admitting that BTC has always accounted for 75+% of the trading/market dominance would ruin their "position" in the altcoin-trading space. 🙂

I was tired of working in an office and wanted to get on my life and become truly successful on my own terms. I heard about bitcoin trading, and i was interested because i only have a few hundred dollars to start out with.

I spend several months researching the financial markets in-depth and reading about trading strategies developed by other traders. I found a trading method which helped me to consistently profit, and backtests that method on hundreds of trades using old charts. I didn’t achieve the amazing results I hoped for. I wasn’t an expert, I wasn’t good with the trading strategies and the signals. Even though I was making profits but that wasn’t enough for me. Trading without a method or system caused me to lose money and at that moment I realized I needed an expert In bitcoin trading, someone who’s very flexible with a good method of trading and my friend who’s also very good with what he does recommended me to Mauricio Pierce, A very successful and a pro in binary options trading. After chatting with Mauricio Pierce within a week of reaching out to him. I’m happy to say that I’ve been making millions of dollars through trading. I’m a big time bitcoin investor and a successful bitcoin trader all by the help of Mauricio Pierce. You can tell this story too, Get in touch with him now Mauriciopierce8@gmailcom if you want to tell a story like this too!

JP Thor fits the patreo-distribution wrong: a function like a+deltradistribution is not a classic patreo-distribution … it is a classical patreo distribuion for values above a … i want to say: what jp found is a patreo distribution just for some part of its Volume-weighted-Mcap. Coming to the point that his results are misleading. Im not a hater – but when you try to fit a distribution to some non-specified weighted mcap, you consider it correct when you can write btc has 80% and the rest 20% ;o)

The first problem is that crypto started with the wrong foot by adopting a a Shares style Market Cap metric, adding volume into the equation would help however if this was adopted your can be sure bots would be used to trade amongst themselves to increase volume so the solution is not as easy as it seems.

In theory this discovery could reign tragedy on the alts but I might have to disagree with JP's volume conclusion. Although volume may be faked, I'm not seeing how this can determine dominance. It's awesome that this is pointed out and I'm going to take some time to work with this but I'm not drawing any conclusions yet.
    Thanks Brotha!

I dont think you can "volume weighted cap" bitcoin because we mostly convert to bitcoin to buy alts.

Excellent analysis, but you have to wonder how useful this actually is if most people don't even realize it. When the majority sees a potential for a flippening on coinmarketcap, they'll probably act according to that information. Leaving the minority of investors with accurate information with the short end of the stick. It reminds me of a quote by A. Gary Shilling: Markets can remain irrational a lot longer than you and I can remain solvent.

There's was an article on Medium and Twitter account about Coinmarketcap lying. There's even shittier site Worldcoinindex which takes coins out of nowhere and pushes them higher on the list. Maybe if SEC will read Bitwise report they will do something with those scammy sites. There should be a good site to check prices.

The problem is that the application of the maths taking into account traded volume, which is then adjusted, then applied to the other metrics to determine market cap is that he had a predetermined curve that he was trying to make the data fit, which is not how statistical analysis works. Traded volume is the best indicator of risk as it determines liquidity, people who ignore it are foolish. Also the volume figures are notoriously unreliable and dominance is irrelevant for the most part as long as the assets is liquid or fungible with another liquid asset.

Great bringing attention to this. How are we going to get CMC to change the way they present this data as well as removing fake volume from exchange listings? Only way I can see is if they are boycotted!
